'Pectorals'
Within modern society bigger is better. Be that biceps, pectorals, lips, thighs or derrieres. This A6 biro artwork depicts the almost essential ritual for many millennials, of taking a selfie. Simply making a work on such a small scale with the subject, myself, looking to accentuate his pectoral muscles; shows the futile quest of physical prowess that many twentysomething year-olds seek.
Conceptually, I look to challenge our own narcissistic tendencies that have become normalised through the emergence of social media as an accepted facet of everyday life. This work may seem somewhat cynical, but my goal is to create a satirical commentary on society, using humour as a vehicle to challenge the status quo within this digital age.
