To Freetown

The figure of the boxer embodies that defiance in the face of the most overwhelming adversity.


This work pays homage to the strength shown by the freed slaves who founded Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown, in the late 18th century.

Though stripped of their humanity, the immense mental fortitude to overcome such atrocities are something that we can never fully comprehend and must remember.
